WELCOME, AUTHORS!

The North Miami Beach Public Library is delighted to support local authors of all ages, genres, and places on their publishing journeys! Whether you have published works you'd love to share with the community or are just getting started and need to know how to find an agent or design a cover, the Library has resources that can help.

If you would like to hold an author event such as a book talk, book signing, or related program, please fill out the Local Author Submission Form and submit a copy of your book here at the Library to let us know what you have in mind. We love to highlight and encourage our local writers and artists!

Author & Publication Tools

Pressbooks is your one-stop shop for self-publishing! Everything from editing to layout to covers to creating a full book, ready for print - Pressbooks provides easy tools, and you provide the creativity! Once you've created your book, it's ready for online publishing, printing, and sharing with everyone from friends and family to agents and publishers. Stop waiting to share that masterpiece with the world!

If you're hoping to get your book out to a larger audience, the Indie Author Project might just be for you! Make your book available to the Library's online community, and it will be shared with readers all across the state, as well as automatically entered to be considered for highlighting by outlets such as the Library Journal!
Want to see your book available for checkout at the Library? We'd love to see it! You can donate us a copy by dropping by the Library any time and telling the friendly front desk staff that you are a local author and would like your book considered for inclusion. A Librarian will reach back out to you about whether your book can be added. The Library can only accept physical books, not ebooks, at this time. (See our Local Authors policy for more information!)

Local Authors at the Library

Upcoming & Recent Author Events

Interested in diving into the world of publishing? Come join us at the Library on Tuesday, November 18th for an exciting event showcasing other local authors and their work, including interviews, discussions, and tips for how to get started! Librarians will provide a live demo of the Pressbooks free software provided at the Library, enabling you to work on and self-publish your work from anywhere - let your creativity run free!

The Library was excited to host author Gregory Sicard in our Theater on November 1st! Mr. Sicard signed books, shared his author journey, discussed authorship and history research, and educated Library patrons about the history and spread of Freemasonry in the Americas, especially its history in Haiti and surrounding islands. Cet événement, et le livre qu'il célèbre, s'est déroulé en français.

George Moss, better known to our locals as GMoss, is an independent comics artist and author - and he's coming to the Library! Join us for an exciting conversation about the creative process, breaking into the comics industry, and how art can bring communities together on Wednesday, August 20th. Get your book signed or pick one up here, and get ready to enter a world of artistic creativity!
